Why we clean in Kodiak.

I love cleaning. I always have. There is a particular quiet that settles over a room once it is actually clean, and I like being the reason for it.

What matters more to me is what a clean space does for the person living in it. They breathe a little easier and start having people over again, instead of apologizing for the kitchen first. I know the other side of it too. When a place gets away from you, it nags at you a little more every week, and a cleaner you can count on takes that off your plate.

Lighthouse is me taking that seriously for other people, here on Kodiak, where getting help you can count on is harder than it should be.

Vacation rentals through salmon season, when the same unit turns over weekly and the next guests land the morning after checkout. We build the schedule around that and we show up.

And working households. Two jobs, kids in school, mud and salt on every pair of boots. A regular schedule keeps it from piling up.

Salt air works on window seals, door hardware, and bathroom grout. Most off the shelf products are not made for it, so we carry what holds up here.

Fish smell comes home from the harbor, mud comes in off Chiniak Road, and wet wool and rubber gear ends up draped over things. We plan the clean around all of it.

HEPA vacuums pull pet hair and storm grit out of the carpet instead of moving it around. Color coded cloths keep bathroom bacteria away from kitchen counters.

We are a small crew, based and staffed on Kodiak. I started Lighthouse here, for here. No franchise template dropped onto a small island. Just a local shop run by people who live ten minutes from your door.

Everyone on the crew is background checked. We carry general liability insurance and a janitorial bond, and proof of coverage goes out on request before the first visit.

And we don’t oversell. On the way out, we tell you what we found: the damp corner under the sink, or the filter that needs swapping. Things we noticed while we were there. We don’t charge extra for the information.
